ANKARA [MENL] -- Turkey has reported the possible landing of a Syrian missile.
The Turkish General Staff said the Gendarmarie found traces of what could have been a Syrian missile in the southern province of Hatay. Hatay has long been claimed by Syria as part of a longstanding border dispute with Ankara.
The debris from the suspected Syrian missile did not cause injuries or damage, the General Staff said. The statement said villagers reported an explosion in the sky followed by the landing of debris.
"An investigation by military units in the region assessed that the parts in question could possibly belong to a missile originating from Syria," the General Staff said over the weekend.
