BAYKAN SEZER’İN MODERNLEŞME KURAMLARINA YAKLAŞIMI

Özet
Türk sosyologları modernleşme kuramlarına yaklaşımları bakımından gruplandırılmak istendiğinde, Baykan Sezer (1939-2002)’in kuramsal çizgisinin diğer sosyologlarımıza göre çok farklı olduğu görülmektedir. Çünkü Baykan Sezer, bütün akademik yaşamı boyunca sosyal bilimlerin evrensel olmadığını anlatmak istemiştir. Zira, yeryüzünde Doğu ve Batı toplumlarının ekonomik ve toplumsal çıkarları aynı yönde değil, birbirinin tam karşıtıdır. Buna göre Batı sosyolojisi, öncelikle kendi toplumsal ve ekonomik çıkarlarına hizmet etmektedir. Öte yandan Baykan Sezer’in, Batı merkezci modernleşme kuramlarını eleştirirken kuramsal olarak sosyolojideki Bağımlılık Okuluna yaklaştığı görülmektedir.

Abstract
When the Turkish sociologist are grouped from the aspect of the approaches of modernization theories, it’s seen that Baykan Sezer’s (1939-2002) theoretical position is very different according to the other sociologists. Because Baykan Sezer wished to explain that the social sciences are not universal during all his academic life. Because the economic and sociologic interests of Eastern and Western societies are not shared the same directions. Their interests are opposite of each other. According to this the Western sociology serves their sociologic and economic interest before all else. On the other hand, while Baykan Sezer criticizes the Western centralist modernization theories, it’s seen that he approaches theoretically the school of dependency cited in the sociology.
