Ein interessantes Buch über Samarra, die Garnisonenstadt der türkischen Mamluken. Diese Kriegersklaven (Prätorianergarde) waren aus Zentralasien importiert, bis sie immer mächtiger wurden und irgendwann die Herrschaft übernahmen.
